PLANNED PROJECTS

Westside Basin Stormwater Improvements (2027)

This project will incorporate treatment swales and tree wells into the City's west basin (west of South Patrick), while upgrading stormwater infrastructure and improving capacity. Funded through Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and Save Our Indian River Lagoon (SOIRL) grants.

Jackson Ave Streetscape (2026)

Jackson Avenue (from South Patrick to A1A) will be transformed with new sidewalks, bioswales, and landscaping. Bioswales are planted channels designed to concentrate and convey stormwater runoff while removing debris and pollution. Funded through FDOT and FDEP grants and city funds. COMPLETED PROJECTS

South Ditch Basin Stormwater Improvements (2025)

This project treats 58.27 acres at the southern portion of the City. The project involved retrofitting the Jamaica pond with a biosporption activated media (BAM) filter, construction of BAM swales, treatment in the Sports Park, and diversions of Robert and Robin Way into retention. Funded through FDEP/ ARPA  grant.

City Hall Living Shoreline (2025)

Beemats (floating wetlands) were installed in the City Hall pond to uptake nutrients from stormwater runoff. Funded through FDEP/ ARPA grant.

Roosevelt Baffle Box (2025)

A new-generation baffle box with a BAM filter and backflow preventer valve was installed in the Roosevelt Avenue stormwater pipe, just before outfall into the canal. Funded through FDEP/ ARPA grant.

Lori Laine Trunkline Improvements (2024)

5,600 lf of existing failing 30-year old reinforced concrete pipe located in back yards was replaced with 6,100 lf of pipe in the City right of way. 2,800 lf of BAM filtration system was installed at strategic locations to create additional storage and provide nutrient removal. Funded through SJRWMD and SOIRL grants.

Jackson Court Pond (2022)

This half-acre stormwater treatment facility, located at the corner of Jackson Ct. and South Patrick,  consists of an interlinked dry pond and wet pond. 

Schechter Center Bioswales (2021)

BAM-lined bioswales in the Schechter Center parking lot. 

Temple/ Ellwood Treatment Facility (2021)

Small dry retention area on the corner of Temple and Ellwood.

Catino Sports Complex Stormwater Management Facility (2019)

1.5 acres of stormwater treatment pond and recreation complex.

Samsons Island Dock and Bridge Improvements

Reconstruction of dock and bridge. Grant-funded.

COMPLETED PROJECTS

Tennis Hut

The new facility significantly elevates our tennis programs . It features improved amenities for both players and spectators, including enhanced viewing area. This expansion supports the continued growth of our youth and adult leagues.

New Fire Station (2025)

Station 55,  a vital addition to our public safety infrastructure, is a modern, two-story facility encompassing 11,967 square feet. Strategically connected to the existing Public Works facility at 240 Jackson Avenue, this state-of-the-art station is designed to enhance emergency response capabilities and better serve the community.

Pelican Coast (2025)

Significant improvements were made to the Pelican Coast Sports Facility to enhance functionality and accessibility. A new four-unit restroom facility was constructed to better accommodate visitors. The parking lot was expanded and upgraded to provide improved access to the sports fields. Additionally, a new four-bay storage building was built to support the Public Works Department, offering dedicated space for maintenance equipment and operational storage.

Hedgecock and Grabowsy Septic to Sewer (2023)

Conversion of two City restrooms from septic to sewer; installation of grinder pumps. These were the last two remaining City-owned septic systems. This project was partially funded by the Save Our Indian River Lagoon (SOIRL) fund.

Skate Park Site Improvements (2023)

The Satellite Beach Skate/BMX Park has seen significant upgrades in recent years,  The park, located at 750 Jamaica Blvd, features a 13,500 sq ft concrete , offering both bowl and street elements. Recently, the city has upgraded a shade structure at the entrance of the skate park to improve comfort for users, especially in Florida’s intense sun. Alongside this, restroom facilities in the surrounding complex are where expanded with air-conditioning to better serve park visitors.

Sports Park Press Box (2023)

Construction of a new press box building at the football field located within Satellite Beach Sports Park. The press box is part of a broader city initiative to enhance local sports facilities, providing an updated space for media, announcers, and coaching staff during sporting events games.

New Public Works (2022)

The new Public Works building is located at 240 Jackson Avenue and was developed to replace aging infrastructure that was over 60 years old. This two-story building features vehicle bays, workshops, and tool storage on the ground floor, while the upper floor houses administrative offices, a command center, a conference room, and additional storage space.
