Ron Culp

Ron was born at Patrick AFB and raised in Satellite Beach.  He attended Surfside, DeLaura and graduated SHS in 1976.  While attending BCC and then FIT, he joined the SBVFD and in 1982, was hired as a full-time firefighter.  He also volunteered with the Harbor City Volunteer Ambulance Squad for many years.  Ron earned his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from FIT in 1983.

Ron was commissioned a Marine Corps 2ndLt in March 1984 and earned his Naval Aviator wings at NAS Pensacola, FL. In his 23-year career, he participated in numerous deployments including Desert Shield/Storm and flew two primary aircraft: the CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter and the MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor. LtCol Culp retired from the Marines in 2007.

Ron returned to his hometown in 2015 and has dedicated himself to serving his community. He attends City Council meetings, workshops and has served on a city committee. Ron is the director of the Flag Program, founded by his mother, Scotty and has volunteered with every city department. He launched the Veterans Birthday Program and writes articles honoring local veterans for the SB Beachcaster and two beachside publications. In 2021, City Council named Ron the inaugural SB Citizen of the Year.

Ron’s two daughters moved to SB during elementary school and were fortunate to grow up alongside their Grandma Scotty. Rachel (SHS 2012) is a Capt in the Marines stationed in Quantico, VA, while Emily (SHS 2016) is an entrepreneur living in Denver, CO.

Next year Satellite Beach celebrates 70 years, a testament to the vision of our Founding Families and actions of so many selfless residents. Ron will continue that legacy of service as a member of Council.

Frank Scaglione

I am a husband and father of three.  We first moved to Satellite Beach in 2016 and immediately fell in love with city.  Although work took us away briefly, we returned and made Satellite Beach our forever home in 2020.

I served in the Air Force from 2003-2013, flying 100 combat missions in the B-1.  In 2013 I left the Air Force to attend law school and began working at an international law firm after graduation.  In 2020 I left private practice to become an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Melbourne but returned to my firm in 2021, where I work today.

I always had passion for public service; first in uniform, and later through community involvement.  I coached Little League softball and baseball and served on the Satellite Beach Little League Softball Board.  I served on the School Advisory Council for DeLaura Middle School for two years and volunteered with Helping Seniors of Brevard educating elderly and low-income residents of Brevard County on their rights under Florida’s landlord-tenant laws.  My wife and I are active in the Satellite Instrumental Music Foundation, the Satellite High School Band booster club.  I currently serve as the Vice Chair of the Satellite Beach Board of Adjusters.

I am running for City Council to continue serving the city and community I love.  If elected, I will ensure fiscal responsibility, reduce regulatory burdens on small business, and fight overdevelopment that threatens the small-town charm that makes Satellite Beach the wonderful community it is.

Matt Zimmerman

My name is Matt Zimmerman and I am running for Satellite Beach City Council.

I am a father, small business owner, and long time beachside resident. I stand for protecting our waterways, beaches, and want to keep our small beachside community a great place to raise a family and let small locally owned businesses thrive! If you’re looking for transparency, accountability, and someone who will listen and take action to keep our community the little slice of paradise that it is, all I need is your time, and your vote!
