The Satellite Beach Police Department has a Prescription Drug Disposal Box in the lobby of the police department, located at 510 Cinnamon Drive in Satellite Beach.
The purpose of this Prescription Drug Disposal Box is to provide the citizens of Satellite Beach with an environmentally safe alternative to disposing of medications in the landfill or sewer system, which may later negatively affect the environment. By removing their unneeded medications or over-the-counter medicines from their homes, citizens can reduce access to addictive medications for accidental or intentional misuse by children and adults in the home.
This Prescription Drug Disposal Box is is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Prescription Drug Disposal Box can be used only for prescription medications. It is not intended for the disposal of ointments, liquids of any kind, aerosol cans, inhalers, needles, chemotherapy drugs, or thermometers.
Questions or concerns regarding our Prescription Drug Disposal Box may be directed to Records@satellitebeach.gov or call 321-773-4407.
The Satellite Beach Police Department, working in cooperation with the National Shooting Sports Foundation, will provide city residents, or gun owners with children in Satellite Beach schools, free gun locks and gun safety literature as part of Project ChildSafe.
Project ChildSafe is a nationwide program whose purpose is to promote safe firearms handling and storage practices among all firearms owners through the distribution of key safety education pamphlets and free gun locking devices. The program is supported by the United States Department of Justice.
The Satellite Beach Police Department has obtained 200 gun safety kits through Project ChildSafe. These kits will be made available to any city resident or gun owners with children attending Satellite Beach schools, no questions asked and free of charge.
We encourage all gun owners to store weapons in a location that is inaccessible to children, regardless of age, with ammunition stored separately. Our School Resource Officers will continue to educate the children in our community on gun safety topics.
Anyone interested in receiving a free kit can stop by the lobby of the Satellite Beach Police Department from Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. till 4:30 p.m.
