Chief Brad Hodge

Chief Brad Hodge has proudly served the Satellite Beach Police Department since March 12, 1989, rising through the ranks to his current leadership role as Chief of Police. Over his distinguished 37-year career, Chief Hodge has held nearly every position within the agency—including Field Training Officer, Detective, Corporal, Sergeant, Staff Sergeant, Commander, and Deputy Chief—before being appointed Chief of Police.

Chief Hodge leads a dedicated team of 25 sworn officers and 10 civilian support staff, overseeing all facets of department operations including the Patrol and Criminal Investigations Divisions, Records and Evidence, Administrative Support, policy development, budgeting, and volunteer programs. His extensive experience and steady leadership have guided the department through major projects, technological advancements, and accreditation efforts that have modernized operations and strengthened community trust.

As a lifelong resident and proud graduate of Satellite High School, Chief Hodge’s roots run deep in the City of Satellite Beach—the very community he has served for more than three decades. He earned his law enforcement certification from the Santa Fe Institute of Public Safety in Gainesville, graduating top of his class, and later pursued studies in Public Administration at the University of Central Florida. He is also a graduate of the prestigious 218th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Throughout his tenure, Chief Hodge has demonstrated exceptional commitment to professional standards and training. He has directed multiple divisions and critical programs, including the Office of Professional Standards and Accreditation, K-9 Program, Emergency Response Team, Criminal Investigations Division, School Resource Officer Program, and Records and Communications. Chief Hodge also serves as a state assessor for the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation and is recognized by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) as both a Subject Matter Expert and certified law enforcement instructor.

His dedication and excellence have been recognized with numerous awards, including Satellite Beach Officer of the Year (twice), Brevard County Officer of the Year, and City of Satellite Beach Employee of the Year in both 2006 and 2013.

Chief Hodge remains deeply committed to fostering community engagement, transparency, and organizational excellence as he leads the Satellite Beach Police Department through its continued growth and transformation.
