Operations
Criminal Investigation Division
This division is responsible for all investigative needs, including person's crimes, property crimes, economic crimes, narcotic investigations, crime scene investigations, skydive fatalities, and new applicant background investigations.
The K-9 Division is a specialized unit that enhances public safety through highly trained police dogs and handlers who work together as a team. The unit supports patrol operations with tracking, suspect apprehension, evidence recovery, area searches, and narcotics detection, while also providing a strong deterrent presence and assisting neighboring agencies when needed. The division also includes a School Resource Officer partnered with a Therapy K-9, who focuses on building positive relationships with students, supporting emotional well-being, and creating a safe, approachable presence within the school community.
School Resource Officer (SRO) Division
The School Resource Officer (SRO) Division is dedicated to maintaining a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment within our local schools. SROs serve as law enforcement officers, mentors, and educators—building strong relationships with students, staff, and families while addressing safety concerns, preventing crime, and providing guidance both in and out of the classroom. The division also incorporates a Therapy K-9 program, which helps support students’ emotional well-being, reduces anxiety, and fosters trust by creating an approachable and comforting presence on campus.
Traffic Homicide Investigation (THI) Team & Task Force
The Traffic Homicide Investigation (THI) Team is a specialized unit formed to investigate serious injury and fatal traffic crashes. Composed of highly trained supervisors skilled in crash reconstruction and forensic analysis, the team conducts thorough investigations, supports victims and families, and works to ensure accurate and just outcomes. Through a multi-agency Beachside THI Task Force, partnering departments share personnel, training, and resources—allowing for rapid response, advanced investigative capabilities, and a stronger, more coordinated public safety network serving the entire beachside community.
The Communications Division serves as the critical link between the public and responding officers. Dispatchers answer emergency and non-emergency calls, coordinate police response, monitor officer safety, and manage real-time information during incidents. Their calm, professional communication ensures quick response, accurate information flow, and continuous support for both the community and officers in the field.
The School Crossing Guard Program plays a vital role in keeping students safe as they travel to and from school. Crossing guards provide a visible safety presence in school zones, assist children and families at crosswalks, and help manage traffic during peak arrival and dismissal times. Their dedication, attentiveness, and commitment to safety create a secure and welcoming environment for the community’s youngest pedestrians.
The Volunteer Program allows community members to support the department through service, outreach, and special events. Volunteers assist with non-enforcement duties, community programs, and public engagement efforts, strengthening the partnership between the police department and the community it serves.
