The Satellite Beach Police Department was awarded a grant by Firehouse Subs in 2018 to replace our ATV. We are thankful to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation who enabled the purchase of our 2018 Suzuki King Quad ATV, and Jestina Jones from Public Works who spearheaded the grant proposal and subsequently secured the grant for the city. The grant covered the cost of the ATV and all associated equipment. We are also thankful to our host condominium that allows us to store our ATV for quick response time and easy access to the beach.
The ATV is used by the police department as well as our volunteers to actively patrol our 3 miles of Atlantic coastline. The ATV is an excellent resource that provides police with the ability for an expedited response to incidents that occur on the beach. It has been used to locate missing children that have wandered off, identify suspicious items that wash up on our beaches (everything from narcotics, immigrant rafts, and stolen vessels to injured wildlife). Our routine patrols provide a law enforcement presence deterring unwanted criminal activity on the beaches.
