Traffic Homicide Investigation (THI) Team and THI Task Force

The Satellite Beach Traffic Homicide Investigation (THI)Team was formed in 2021 to handle the unique challenges of serious bodily injury crashes and traffic-related deaths that occur in the City of Satellite Beach. The team consists of two SBPD Lieutenants and two Sergeants who are specially trained in accident reconstruction, forensic analysis, and the interpretation of vehicular evidence. This special team has the ability to thoroughly investigate each case to its conclusion, provide better support to victims and their families, and ensure more effective and just outcomes.

The Traffic Homicide Investigation Task Force was spearheaded by the Satellite Beach Police Department’s THI Team in collaboration with three other beachside law enforcement agencies. The agencies were motivated by a shared goal to improve and enhance the investigative process for near-fatal and fatal traffic incidents. The participating agencies of the THI Task Force pool their financial resources, equipment, THI trained personnel, and training efforts to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of near fatal and traffic homicide investigations. This coordinated approach enables rapid response to incidents and efficient resource allocation, maximizing investigative efficiency.

Interagency collaboration in law enforcement is a proactive approach that creates a more resilient and responsive public safety network, capable of addressing challenges more effectively than any single agency could on its own. The joint effort of the THI Task Force demonstrates the Satellite Beach Police Department’s strong commitment to delivering the best public safety services to the entire beachside community.

Satellite Beach Lt. Ronnie Kinsey supervises the Satellite Beach THI Team and the THI Task Force.
