Stop By & Say Hi

What is Stop By & Say Hi?

As part of CFAL (Communities for a Lifetime), the Satellite Beach Police Department Volunteers are proud to participate in an innovative and beneficial program entitled Stop By & Say Hi, where we literally do just that.

The Stop By and Say Hi program was founded in 2009. Since then, Stop By and Say Hi volunteers have been making weekly in-home social visits and serving as a resource on community services, so residents can retain their independence and remain in their home as long as they choose. Our devoted volunteers provide laughter, brighten a day, and let residents who are isolated or lonely know that we care in Satellite Beach!

City residents can be referred to our Stop By & Say Hi Program at any time. There are no requirements in order to participate, except that participants must live in the City of Satellite Beach.  Participants in the Stop By and Say Hi typically include individuals who would benefit from companionship, social interaction, and emotional support. They may be elderly individuals who are isolated and living alone, disabled individuals who face challenges leaving their home, individuals who are homebound due to illness, individuals who are caregivers, or individuals who have just lost a loved one.

I know someone who could benefit from the Stop By and Say Hi program. What do I do? Simply call the SBPD Volunteer coordinator, and we will reach out to the referral with information about the program. Referrals to the Stop By and Say Hi program come from a variety of sources, including family members, friends, or neighbors. Many people recommend the program based on their own experiences or knowledge of the Stop By and Say Hi program.  These referrals can be valuable because they come from trusted sources who have firsthand knowledge of the program's benefits or services.

What happens on a Stop By & Say Hi Visit?   A team of background checked, handpicked volunteers (2) make weekly social visits at a scheduled time and day of the resident's choosing.  Visits are confidential and the Stop By and Say Hi volunteers ensure the participant feels comfortable and respected.  Participants may have specific needs or preferences for social interactions due to factors such as health conditions, sensory impairments, or cultural backgrounds. Our Stop By and Say Hi volunteers are trained to promote active communication and ensure that each visit is enjoyable and engaging for everyone. We are there to provide laughter, brighten a day, share city resources and let our residents know that they are not forgotten.
